Objective
Construct a biogas combined heat and power plant including two lined and covered digester lagoons with a total capacity of 57 million gallons of dairy waste, biogas upgrading equipment, two 1 MW engine generators, and ancillary support infrastructure to produce 2 MW of electricity and clean irrigation water.
Challenge
Working on a large operating dairy with a tight budget and strict environmental requirements utilizing technologies from around the country.
Result
Treat millions of gallons of flush dairy wastewater daily to reduce methane release to the atmosphere while producing 2 MW of clean electrical energy and irrigation water for the dairy feed crops.
